A new scientific study has discovered that high water flows contributed to an explosion in the population of Carp in the Murray and Goulburn Rivers.
The Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research report, ‘Status of Fish Populations in the Lower Goulburn River (2003-2012)’ also found that aside from Golden Perch, most native species of fish did not exhibit a strong spawning response... Click here for full story

Sharman Stone, Member for Murray says she is hardly surprised but troubled to see two Basin States rush to dishonour 100 year old Murray River management cost sharing agreements and conventions. NSW led off with a shock announcement six months ago; they are now hotly pursued by S.A. announcing it will also slash its joint funding contribution, by 50%.
