The revised Murray Darling Basin proposal, being sent to the states next week, will apparently continue to recommend the removal of 2750 gigalitres of water from irrigators. Groundwater extraction levels will apparently be revised.

Victorian Iron is exploring the potential of open cut mining for iron ore, over an area of 39 square kilometres near Caniambo, south east of Shepparton.
The Company plans to mine farmland, bordered by Feltrim Road and Dookie-Violet Town Road. The project is expected to take up to 3 years, including the initial exploration stage, which has already begun.

The Gillard Government has allowed just six weeks to spend $40 million on irrigation water buy backs from high security systems like ours in Northern Victoria.
This comes hot on the heels of Dairy Australia listing buyback as the most damaging and least cost effective method of water recovery for the environment.
