It seems that the Gillard Government may have frozen the $1 billion Regional Development Fund, despite it being part of the Independent’s Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor deal, which brought Labor to power.
Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone says people in the country deserve better than to have vital funding slashed.

Proposed changes to the taxation arrangements for payments made under the Sustainable Rural Water Use and Infrastructure Program (SRWUIP) were announced by Federal Ministers, Tony Burke and Simon Crean on the 18th of February 2011.The proposed changes are to be applied from 1 April 2010.
